Influenza A H1N1

The many cancellations have had serious consequences for the Lacandon Medicine Fund, which is managed by the Na Bolom.

These medicine funds come mainly from Na Bolom hotel operations. Therefore, it has important implications when visitors stop showing up.

The disease outbreak (even before it was known how the disease behaved) meant cancellations virtually for the whole tourism industry, including Na Bolom.

This implies that all bookings have been cancelled and that those visitors to a greater extend have changed their travel plans to other destinations.

For the inhabitants of three Lacandon villages: Metzabok, Nahá and Lacanjá, the consequences are extraordinarily severe, since the aid for illness or accidents is almost suspended because of lack of economical means.

The medicin fund is for medicin and medical aid for the Lacandon, the inhabitants of the Lacandon Jungle. Furthermore, the fund also covers the transport back and forth to San Cristóbal de las Casas, and stay both in Na Bolom and/or in a hospital.

Therefore, the residents of these villages are severely affected when Na Bolom stops having visitors.

Contributions to Medicine Fund are received with great gratitude and transferred entirely and directly to the Fund.

Contributions may transfered to Na Bolom Denmark’s bank account.
